I’m giving up on my iTrip, like I had previously given up on my iMic (Belkin). It seems to have short-term amnesia and keeps returning to 88.5 anytime I try changing it to another (clear) channel. Even just pausing a song is enough for it to revert to 88.5. Generally it will let me switch to another channel a couple of times, switch back to 88.5 each time, and then after that it won’t even acknowledge attempts to switch it anymore. Just fails to change altogether. 2 irritating strikes against cheap-o mac accessories for me.
How would master chief not destroy Jim raynor?
I’ve been on some forums lately and been encountering people that think that Jim Raynor from Starcraft 2 is the hand of god apparently. The argument was that people thought that Jim raynor could take mc in an unarmed fight both with armor and without. When hell freezes Jukebox Parts over. Their reasoning, cuz he can dodge jukeboxes. -_- The only part of this fight that would even be remotely interesting for me would be with weapons, even then I know mc will win since he has the precision and firepower in his mjolnir mark vi than that of a unsc destroyer. ( his armor costs more than an entire fleet of them) Jims a superbly bad ass rebel but come on, he just doesn’t have the physical means or technology required. Who do you think would win, I wanna conduct a survey, but please no “duhhhhhh he’s cool so he wins” stupidity. Only facts. No Protoss, covenant, Zerg, flood involved in any way.

I am an electronic hardware test engineer so if a product doesn’t work right or as advertized I send it back. The Sherwood 5090R unit works on all of my original CDs and all of my CD-Rs. I used to have a high end Sony gold series single CD player that lasted almost 18 years. It is hard to find a good selection of mid-range multiple CD players at a reasonable price – but this Sherwood unit fits the bill perfectly. My research suggests that the lowest price multiple CD units are prone to early failure and/or have problems playing CD-Rs or cds with slight scratches. The Sherwood unit was not designed for and does not play MP3’s. The remote is easy to use but you need to read the manual to learn all of the nice random play features – using the same remote button you get several options that display on the player – pretty simple actually.
On a side note – there are many people trying to sell single or multiple carousel DVD players as an option to play CDs. Buyer beware because the audio quality (at least on most of the units) is not the same on a DVD player as a dedicated CD player. I was surprised to learn that the (de-coding) software for DVD players will play most CDs but the audio quality will not be the same.
The Sherwood had a good sound, the only problems were (1)the remote unable to open and close tray and unable to move from disc to disc to remove from tray.
(2)the tray was slow moving and had a dragging rubbing sound.
My first unit arrived with a broken plastic CD tray which was opened and would not close. The unit was shipped only in the manufactures thin cardboard box. I requested another, which was double boxed and arrived in perfect condition!
For the money (I paid $99 plus shipping), it can’t be beat. The sound quality is good, and all controls work smoothly. I purchased the Sherwood stereo receiver as well, and now have a good 2nd system which includes a phono section for $250 (less speakers and turntable)!
First, on the manufacturer’s website it clearly states that this model has a headphone volume control. I bought this item because of that feature. It does not have a headphone volume control. Secondly, the machine will not load a CD without help. Try to load a CD and it will give you an error message. You have to wait until the tray has completely withdrawn and then you have to give it a final nudge for it to work properly. Other than those two things the sound is decent and the other features work well.
The itrip is pretty cool… did a nice job on a four hour drive I recently took. The only difficulty is that you have to keep changing the station as you drive through different cities, depending on the available frequencies for each area. They list the available frequencies for different areas on their website, but that’s a heck of a lot of additional research to do just to listen to your music.
It’s easy to set up otherwise. I’ll keep using it until cars come standard with ipod inputs.
This little device has allowed me to use my iPod in my car that only has a CD player. Without it I would be stuck with only my CDs. Yes, living in the Los Angeles area is cause for frustration, at times, but I have found stations that work. No, the quality is not as good as a CD and I have learned to live with some fuzziness at points. But this is better than paying/installing a new stereo.
In terms of the problem of having the tuning frequencies playing on the playlist…it takes about 2 seconds to fix that problem by setting up a smart playlist to not include the iTrip stations.
This receives a four star rating because it does do what it claims to do…the only reason that I won’t give it a five is that the transmitter does not shut off even when I shut my iPod off. If I don’t pay attention then the battery gets drained and this is a minor annoyance.
