I use my box with the ATSC tuner and it works great as a over the air PVR. Plays everything i need it to. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was a problem with time reporting for timer recordings, fortunately it was easily worked around by changing my time zone. There is an update that fixed the time problem, but unfortunately it had a bug that caused it to not completely remove the onscreen display. I stuck with the workaround. This is much more efficient then a HTPC that needs to be left on to record. You can even play the recorded ATSC TP files back on your PC if you like. It could be better, but i am not dissapointed in my purchase.
How can I solve the sound problems on my computer?
I recently formatted my hard drive and installed Windows XP, Service Pack 2. The problem that I am having is that the sound is too fast and/or very distorted as soon as I connect to the internet. Every sound, whether it is coming from my jukebox, DVD player, or any other source, including sound schemes in MY Computer, is scratchy, Dvd Player Jukebox too fast or dragging. However, as soon as I am disconnected from the internet, my sounds are completely normal.I have already cleaned the contacts on my sound card and uninstalled and re-installed my sound software and drivers.Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 22.67 gigahertz Intel Pentium 48 kilobyte primary memory cache512 kilobyte secondary memory cache79.97 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity62.03 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space_NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A [CD-ROM drive]JLMS DVD-ROM XJ-HD166 [CD-ROM drive]WDC WD800BB-75FRA0 [Hard drive] (80.00 GB) — drive 0, s/n WD-WMAJD1879815, rev 77.07W77, SMART Status: HealthyRADEON 9800 SERIES [Display adapter]RADEON 9800 SERIES – Secondary [Display adapter]MAG 16.1 [Monitor] (16.1″vis, June 1997) (2x)

This seemed like a good product at first, reasonably priced, good looking, compact. But then after only using it for a few weeks, the CD drawer failed to open and wouldn’t play anything. So I contacted the company and was sent instructions on how to possibly reset the system. No dice. Then I was sent instructions on how to return the unit for repair. I placed a note in the box with a copy of all the correspondence from RCA and asked for them to please return my CDs that were locked in the drawer due to the unit failure. It doesn’t seem that difficult to me. You fix the unit, get the drawer open and take the CDs out and put them in the shipping box with the unit. But I was wrong. So in the end, it cost another $23 dollars to ship the unit to be repaired and and additional $40 to replace the CDs they couldn’t manage to get back in the box. Save yourself hassle and money and buy another brand.
DISAPPOINTING!!! With its great specs I bought it immediately, it turned out to be GARBAGE. Whenever I watch a movie it pauses or goes into slow motion by itself. After a night mare with the technical support since they only answer every ten days they admitted they have a manufacturing problem as mentioned below:
“Hello Fahad,
We found this problem is due to the SDK from the chip manufacturer, and we have reported this problem to the chip manufacturer and waiting for the update. This takes time to get update from the chip manufacturer. As soon as we get update, we will fix this problem.
Regards,
Eric”
It seems they have launched a product which is not fully tested. Ever since the answered me they stopped responding to emails. Now I’m stock with this machine, a total disaster.
Take my advise don’t think of it..
