What do you think of my essay? Be honest?
Im 14 and in my English class we are writing This I Believe essays about what we believe in. What do you think of mine? am i a good writer?…………………I believe in the power of music. I believe in its unquestionable power to capture my soul and harness my emotions and feelings. Once the smooth plastic headphones enter my ears, and the beat drops like an atom bomb, it’s as if I’m in heaven. Within seconds, words burst out of the repetitive beat forcing it to quiet down as the words swim through my mind. This is my life.Without music I’m suffocated. Music is my oxygen. Whenever I’m nervous, music is always there for me. Whenever I’m sad, it can lift up my spirit. Before a big game, I’m always able to get my blood pumping by touching the play button on Jukebox Coin Slide my slim silver Ipod. I can still remember, when I was little, shooting multiple coins in the Jukebox at my Mom’s restaurant to listen to more music.Hip-Hop is what inspires to reach beyond my limitations. Each rhyme has an explanation behind it. I receive a breath of fresh air every time I press play. Some songs I can relate to. Some songs all I can do is listen and understand. Whatever the case, each song has a meaning and a lesson. Like finding the moral of a story, I search deep into each song to find what I have learned. To me, hip-hop can be described as a drug. It’s addictive and I keep coming back for more. The beat of every song enters my body like a heart beat. With every loud thump different emotions and feelings can be triggered. These emotions and feelings guide me through my struggles and accomplishments, inspiring me to succeed and set new goals for myself. Hip-Hop introduced me to poetry. When I’m listening to a song, and I’m bored, I like to add a little bit of myself into it. By changing the words I can give the song more meaning to me. Poetry is a way for me to express myself and who I really am. With only a pencil, a piece of paper, and an open mind, I can discharge all of my innermost feelings, whether its pain, anger, or happiness. When I put myself through multiple experiences, I like to use poetry as an outlet to tell stories. This allows me to empty my mind and, it’s my way of relaxing.Everyone should have a vice to turn to in their time of need. Music is what inspires me. It is capable of guiding me through my struggles, my pain, my anger, my despair, and my happiness. This I believe.
