Awesome sound, cool lighting. Like the docking feature, able to control the iPod with a remote. But I only paid $14 for it at Toys r Us, yes, fourteen dollars
Where can I download skins for Yahoo! Music Jukebox?
Sorry if this is a newbish question – it’s just that I find Mini Jukebox it difficult to find it hard to get skins. Obviously, I’m getting bored of the vanilla skin (Slipstream), and I’m aware of the other mini-mode skin (don’t use mini-mode that often). So, any websites I can download skins for YMJ?

Absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!
Great sound.
The only thing bad about it is you HAVE to use the remote to activate the CD, otherwise awesome product.
This product looks good and sounds OK (not hifi by any means). Two big issues: The drop down lid in the front will break almost immediately – use velcro to repair. Their remote, controls far too much – if it is defective as was mine or is lost, means many of the features can’t then work. It is a good value at maybe $175; a bit too pricy at $275.
I was looking for a radio that would be visually interesting AND provide good sound. Unfortunately, this product possessed only one of these two qualities. The Crosley WR18 Mini Bubler provided visual interest, especially when all lights were turned on and bubbles rolled through the tubes surrounding its face. On the other hand, sound quality of its internal speakers was poor. I probably would have retained the product inspite of this deficiency, but after only three days the CD player locked and trapped a new CD in its tray. Thereafter, I was unable to switch the player to radio mode. I had no choice but to return the unit for a full refund.
Pretty fun little jukebox. The bubbles and lights are pretty cool. But the volume control is only on the remote and the front panel is difficult to pull down.
Crosley CR12-10 Full Size 10 CD Jukebox with Storage Base
Despite the negative ratings I read before I purchased this item, I was quite pleased with the sound quality and durability. My son was expecially happy with the sound quality and overall appearance.
The sound was great. It filled the store w/ great sound and did not distort at high volume. I had to tap at the bottom of the bubbler to start it running, but that was in the instructions to do. After reading some of the negative reviews, I will keep the receipt just in case. Target is great about returns.
I love this jukebox. Well worth the price. It’s got surprisingly powerful little speakers in it, and it’s beautiful to look at.
I saw the mixed reviews here, so I wanted to add my ‘5 cents’ as well.
First of all : For the same amount of money, you can probably find a better sounding iPod dock, but you won’t find a better looking one.
The sound is really not bad at all, I have definitely heard worse. After reading some of the reviews here, I expected a thin, bass-less sound, but that is definitely not the case. The built in speakers sound very good, and the volume can be cranked up high, without any distortion.
Also, there are hookups for external speakers (not included) which is very nice.
There is a ‘line in’ to hook up external devices (i.e. non-iPods).
The design is very nice. I own an original Wurlitzer 1015 and the details on this replica are actually quite accurate. Also, it was a great idea, to have a ‘remote control’ holder in the back of the unit.
I agree, that the actual iPod dock in front of the unit is a bit ‘fragile’, so you definitely need to be careful, when docking and un-docking your iPod.
Also, the unit works with the iPhone as well, but keep in mind, that this iJukebox was not made for it (i.e. if you do not activate the ‘Airplane Mode’ on your iPhone, there will be the occasional interfearance, when the phone accesses your Network). However, the iJukebox charges the iPhone and plays the music (this includes streaming Audio) with no problem. Even the remote control works with the iPhone.
So overall, I think this is a great iPod dock…. a bit pricy, but you definitely get something, that is nicer to look at, compared to most other iPod docks.
I’m catching up on all my amazon reviews. Sorry this won’t help much because the technology has moved way on. This was my first mp3 player and it worked well. After a couple of years the battery would not hold a charge and it was regulated to a car mp3 player that stayed plugged it to the DC lighter jack in the car. I haven’t used it in months but, I think as longs as its plugged in it will play.
i bought my ipod mini about 2 yrs ago used when i got it the battery was basicly usless ei 10 mins or less on a full charge… i dont use my ipod that much but when i do use it the battery drains way to fast… for the money i payed thats to be expected i guess… i payed around $40 with shipping… i mainly use my ipod when my sansa is out of battery or misplaced somewhere in my messy room… i would like to get a replacement battery.. so far my ipod works fine on windows 7 which is a good sign considering how old the ipod is…
overall i would recommend the ipod mini to anyone…..
pros
great size
color
sound
click wheel
cons
battery life – a major issue
no video
battery drains after about 10 or so mins of continued use (on high volume about 5 mins)
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful piece of workmanship. I have an Apple-obsessed friend that I have teased for years about his Apple fixation. So when I bought this secondhand beauty I emailed him my impression:
“Build quality and packaging are exceptional, truly first rate. Excellent tactility. Apple really has that part sorted out; I’m impressed.
Screen and CPU somewhat less magnificent.”
Part of my teasing of this pleasant fellow was due to my experience with iTunes; I had given in to his constant evangelism about my trying it out. iTunes represented, for me, all that is wrong with software. Unjustifiably massive bloat, braindead 70MB updates, resource hogging, and treating the user like he has been lobotomized (or hypnotized by Apple). So no iTunes for me, no matter what. The solution?
“The OS is so-so and iTunes is the Root Of All Evil, so I installed
rockbox on it and am enjoying it immensely. I load
mp3/ogg/flac/whatever by copying across the USB connection.
(rockbox dot org)”
Rockbox lets me use that beautiful Apple hardware with an interface that puts /me/ in control. And I can play ogg, flac, Still, I find myself using the iPod less than a Sansa e260 that had an MSRP 3-4x less than the iPod. The Sansa has a color screen, better video playback (yes, you can play video on your mini with rockbox. It also has something that might seem trivial: a place to attach a lanyard.
Since I use the Sansa for mobile listening I might get one of those audio docks to use the iPod with my stereo system.
The product that was sent looked wonderful, however it does not work. The iPod will not hold a charge. My mistake was not to notice there was not a return policy for this vender. Now I have a $70.00 lemon. This does not reflect against Amazon, but the individual vendor.
Someone had this and gave it to me because he didn’t want it anymore. Radio reception in an office building is poor and the sound quality mediocre. It is a conversation piece, however.
The bubbler feature on the juke box did not function. I contacted price pros and was told I would receive a shipping label and a new product neither of which I received. A week later I emailed them to finally get a return label to be told they are going to try to fix my NEW product by shipping it back to the manufacture. This was a gift?!?! Very Frustrating. The juke box looks good and sounds great. Waiting on the refurbished juke box. I was not offered a refund.
This product looks and sounds great. However some of the parts have come apart and when I wanted to exchange they were out of the product.
I was amazed at the great sound that boomed from this little Crosley Radio ijuke Jukebox. The bubbler is just like the ones on larger expensive sizes. The colors are great fun, and the size perfect. If you love music and like to dance you will go crazy over this jukebox. It makes me feel happy. Nonie
UPDATE: After about 3 months of rare use, the unit stopped responding to remote commands; due to the limited controls actually on the unit, I can no longer operate the CD player (at all) or change the volume. I’ve tried new batteries, and even an additional remote; very disappointing. The lights are still working, but without audio, it’s almost pointless.
2nd Update: The unit DOES still respond to remote commands; but I had to unplug the unit for a few minutes, then plug it back in. Now it’s working again. I don’t know why this happened, or why it worked, but I’ve used this “fix” twice already.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I bought this Crosley Bubbler iJuke CR-16 after seeing a similar Crosley in a store locally last Holiday season, but was gone when I went to buy one. I did a lot of research deciding which one to purchase; mostly within the Crosley line.
What I wanted (so you know the basis of this review): a pretty speaker set-up for a new Zune mp3 player which could also play CD’s, and ideally be controlled by my universal remote.
What this is: Very pretty, unobtrusive when the lights are off, OK quality machine.
How it works:
The built-in radio is controlled by a dial tuner which is usually hidden behind a flip-down piece of decoration.
The CD player is hidden within the “Crosley” slide-out tray.
There is a 1/8″ (mini stereo / standard TRS connector) input on the back for connecting mp3 players, etc.
A mostly-full-function remote, in 50’s styling, can be hidden/stored inside the back of the unit to help it from getting lost (nice touch).
There are auxiliary speaker output wiring jacks, which I haven’t tried, which I would assume from the data sheet would be OK but not very powerful.
Options/controls:
There is a toggle switch on the back where you can select to have the led “infinity” lights steady on, or flashing.
There is a toggle switch on the back by the mini jack input where you must select whether the radio/CD player are active – or the mini jack. (see complaint # 1 below “control”).
The push-button switch which turns the lights on or off is hidden behind the flip-down radio control display (see complaint #2 “control”)
Opinion / Review:
I wanted to put all of that information first, because it’s hard to find out the specifics of each of these units – and one should know what one is considering purchasing.
Sound Quality: “Good”. You must keep your expectations real; if you want a 700watt surround-sound speaker system; this is not for you. If you just want to be able to play a little music or listen to the radio – and don’t mind not having heavy bass; this can handle it.
Lights: “Great”. They claim there’s neon – but I’m a designer and I don’t believe them. I think there are either fluorescent tubes or LEDs behind there – which is fine with me. The lights are pretty exciting, and the bubbles are fun.
Bubbles: “Very Good”. When you turn the lights on, it takes about 15 minutes to “warm up” before the bubbles begin to bubble. Before then, they look just like one of the regular light tubes. I’m OK with that, not always patient, but physics are what they are. The challenge here is that often (about 40% of the time, informally) one side or the other doesn’t begin to bubble. You can usually hear an audible “chung” when the bubbles begin; to unstick the side that’s stuck, you lightly tap (brush-punch) the bottom housing of that tube. Not wonderful, but it does work easily every time.
Control: “Poor”. I purposely got this unit because it has a CD player and a mini-jack for my zune. The radio was a bonus – unfortunately, you have to flip a manual toggle switch (black by the way, surrounded by black) on the rear of the unit to go between auxiliary input OR the CD/radio. Why couldn’t this be a switch on the front? Better yet, why not make it electronic so it can be controlled by the remote?
The lights – let’s face it: that’s why you buy a mini juke box…for the light “show”. Otherwise; there are better speakers for you out there. My #1 complaint is that to turn the lights on, you have to flip-down the front of the unit, push a button, and flip back up the decoration. Not hard, but very inconvenient. Again; why not an electronic switch so it can be controlled by the remote?
If not for the poor control choices, this unit would have gotten 5 stars.
