old-45-records Creative ideas and plans on 45 Rpm Storage

I have owned a Simpletech Simpledrive for years. I think it is one of the first models of this Pinafarina style. It is only a 100 Gb drive and has been used off and on as long as I have had it. The drive has been dropped a few times off the top of my computer and has been transported for the past year in my laptop case. It has never failed and never given me any problems. I am going to buy another one only because I need a larger capacity drive now due to our growing collection of music and pictures. I love the style, the ease of use and the reliability of this drive and that it works with just a USB cord to both power it and transfer data.

Should I buy this laptop or not? HELP!?

This hard drive is the best to upgrade an older IDE/PATA laptop. After an original 4200RPM hard drive (or even after 5400RPM) there is a HUGE difference in the speed.
I have upgraded hard drive to this model in my laptop and in my wife’s laptop. Wow! We can work again!
    It is silent, not overheating.
I’m totally happy with my Hitachi Travelstar® 7K100 hard drives!

I ordered this drive and when it arrived it was an SATA drive. The item is still advertised as as an ATA-6.

I purchased this Hitachi drive to upgrade from the existing 100GB 5400RPM drive in my laptop. I also ordered the Apricorn EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL EZ Upgrade Universal Notebook Hard Drive Upgrade Kit, which you will need to make an exact duplicate of your old hard drive on to the new one. The upgrade went smooth and now the old hard drive serves as a clone back-up of the new one. This Hitachi runs pretty quiet and FAST. I love it. I installed it into my *2004 HP Pavilion ZD8000 Pentium IV 3.2GH w/2GB RAM running XP Pro srv pack 3* and the increase in speed is noticeable. Startup takes about the same amount of time (even after turning off non essential services), but all other processes go much faster. Programs open in a flash. My plan was to get another two years of top performance before purchasing a Windows 7 machine and this HD makes that happen for me. I’m in love with my laptop all over again.

I am upgrading my wife’s Compaq v2000 laptop by replacing the memory and hard drive. I chose a 100 GB 7200 rpm drive to replace the 60GB 4200 rpm original HD. I purchased a refurbished (first time ever) Hitachi Travelstar from ESI World and it works perfectly. The UPC label was torn (as mentioned) other than that the drive appeared to be brand new. I am very satisfied with the performance and quietness of this drive.

I had never replaced the hard drive in a laptop before but the process went smoothly. I still had the restore CDs to load the operating system. With a new drive enclosure, I loaded the rest of the data and programs. It took a while but it was worth it. The drive upgrade plus additional memory has brought new life to her laptop.

Disappointed would be a mild word choice for my experience with the SimpleTech 500gb expresso mini. It didn’t even work well once and kept crashing every computer I tried to use it with.

Super small, quiet, works fast and well. Includes back up software for your computer. Great buy.

I bought this to add storage to by DVR. It only lasted 3 months and now it wont work. What a piece of junk. I do not recommend purchasing this.

I have had this hard drive for almost 2 years now. I also have the 250GB. Both have been great with my MacBook Pro. I haven’t had one problem with either of them. There are 2 USB ends to plug into the computer, and for the MacBook I have to use the one that has both cords going into it or it won’t recognize the drive. But that’s no problem at all. I love these. I have taken good care of them and both have cases that they don’t leave unless I am using them.
