I was so excited to take this out of the box, and as soon as I played the first 15 seconds of one of my records I started packing the unit back up. The speakers are AWFUL and the sound is harsh, strident and completely distorted. I am extremely disappointed and annoyed.
Waste of time.

I wanted to buy a golf set, and had little money for it. I found a penny auction site, which had the golf set that I wanted, so I started to do some research on it. A lot of people online said that it was kind of a scam in a way, so I only invested $27.00 for 45 bids. I practiced on bid voucher to gain more bids, a won one. I studied my item (golf set) being won by countless people for a little amount of money for days. I analyzed it and made a statistic data to see the right time to start and end the bid.On the 45 Record Auctions day I was ready for the bid, I stared at my screen for 5 hours looking for the right time to bid. I soon saw an opening. I placed one bid, and another shortly after, then all of a sudden I was unable to click my mouse on the bid button. I can click on everything else but the bid button. I sent countless email to the website, and had no replies back for a couple of days. When I had questions before, they emailed me back within a couple of hours.During the process I felt that something was really wrong. I started to record the screen of the auction website, that I was not able to use. I have it all recorded on my computer. When the auction website finally contacted me, I got a number to call. It was their customer service line. I called them and told them to watch the previous video I sent them through email. The person told me he can return the two bids back to me. This really pissed me off.I studied this website and watched the item that I wanted for countless hours. I did this because the website advised all users to before placing a bid.I thank you guys in advance for answering this question.

My Philco record player arrived yesterday, and I couldn’t wait to try it out. I love it!! It plays all 3 speeds and comes with a 45 adapter. It is small, light, and easy to carry. I think the speakers are pretty good. It makes a slight buzzing noise when turned on, but you don’t hear it when the record is playing.
The Crosley Stack Mate 45 Cartridge dropped the records properly. However, the base of the cartridge that the records spin around is too large which created a drag, ie, the records do not spin freely. This caused them to sound distorted. Some would not even spin.
I was very disappointed in this product.
As stated by other customers, the Crosley Stackmate AD01-01 has unfortunately a major flaw! The base of the auto-adapter is made to large to fit the centrum hole of 45 rpm(7 inch)records. It’s strange that the Crosley manufacturers have not noted this. I was about to throw it away, when i thought i’d just give it a try and see if i could somehow fiddle with it to use at least parts of it. I discovered that with a simple adjustement you can make it work well enough to easily load and play 8 7 inch records! Just go to a hardwear store and purchase a very small cheap screwdriver. Bring the adapter to make sure you find the right size that fits the screws.
So, this is how you easily adjust the Stackmate make it work flawless:
Take the small screwdriver and remove the 4 small screws visable on the adapter. You can now remove a small half of this adapter. The surface under the removed piece of plastic is smooth and flat like a BSR auto adapter. Now, simply put the Stackmate on the spindle and load the records as usual and it will work as it’s supposed to! When the plastic part is removed it makes the adapter slimmer but leaves it with enough of its base to make the records stay in place for stacking and playing! It’s worth the effort, because i have tried (on recommendation) to use the Omnidaptor,(made to fit most record changers, but is to high to be able to close the lid on crosleys Stack-o-matics.) I also tried the flat type BSR adaptor. It works, but not as easy as the adjusted Stackmate!
This adapter is lousy. don’t buy it. Certain records, do not drop properly using this adapter, because the adapter is too wide. Records drop halfway down and stick, causing the tone arm to bump against it and land on the turntable, or the record will drop to the turntable, but not turn, because of the width of the adapter, and cause the flip side of the record to be scratched by the turntable. This is not a good product and Crosley should make corrections. I received my first one for a birthday gift and it didn’t work properly, so I bought another one thinking the first one was defective. It is defective from the Manufacturer. Crosley, long in the radio business for years, should know better and should make a better adapter. Dont buy this one
Facts: Relatively new to the vinyl scene.
Have never purchased a new needle prior to this one.
Competent enough to be able to read about vinyl and/or needles and learn about them.
With that out of the way, this needle works. Easy to install and no problems with destruction during delivery. However, at points within the first 20% of every record I play under this needle, the record skips. Perhaps my records are dusty or scratched. Or I simply need to break my new needle in. All I know is that it’s annoying and the original did not have this problem. The other 80% of the record is fine.
If Crosley needles are not proprietary I would be happy if someone would let me know, until then, here’s to hoping this problem fixes itself.
Prompt service, item seemed somewhat flimsy, but I’m just a klutz
Works very well, exactly what I needed. Thank you
Crosley offers a bundle that comes with three needles and a cleaning kit that’s a much better deal.
An excellent companion to a wet record cleaning system (the kind with a soft velvety brush or pad that you dribble some cleaning solution on and then drag across a record). Use the wet pad on grubby records—I find that thrift-store finds sometimes need a few cycles—and then use the AudioQuest brush every time you take a record out of the jacket, to get rid of surface dust. It’s not a miracle treatment, but it will often make records you thought were permanently full of clicks and pops sound good again.
THE VANNS COMPANY WAS VERY HELPFULL WHEN I RETURNED THE ITEM ,THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY PROMPTLY, YOU COULD NOT ASK FOR BETTE SERVICE.
I recently purchased this brush to keep my 12 inch Vinyl records as dust free as possible for playing and recording.
It seems to do a very good job for dry cleaning vs a wet process.

I use this anti-static record cleaner brush before each playback session. It definitely limits the frequency of pops and cracks, leaving that sweet sound that takes you back to the old days when records were the popular medium. The sound may not be as clean as today’s digital audio, but it certainly revives the life of any record that has been collecting dust over the years.
