The peformance of this pickup is outstanding. Whit a 1.25g tracking force and the viscous damper stabilizer it deliver a great signal, specially in high frecuencies. I used it in a belt driven Technics turntable (SL-B2). Really nice…..
Can I attach a Gillette Fusion cartridge to my M3Power razor?
I have had a M3Power razor for Cartridge Older Rockola the last few years. I am considering using the new Gillette Fusion blades now. Do I have to buy a Fusion razor or can I just use the new Fusion cartridges on my old M3Power razor?

I’ll admit I haven’t listened to very many other cartridges, but these were a great replacement for the Stanton 500Bs that came with my T.60 turntables. These have more dynamic range and deliver more bass, and clear highs. The stanton 500Bs had a little bit of distortion in the treble range when playing passages with lots of bass. The Shure’s handle the same passages better, with less audible distortion. I believe part of the distortion I was hearing was due to the straight tone-arms reverberation on the T.60s. I’ve since upgraded to Technic 1200s with the S shaped tone-arms which seems to help as well.
The main advantage I’ve noticed with this stylus over the Stanton’s is the increased clearance from the bottom of the cartridge to the bottom of the stylus. I have a few warped records that I couldn’t get to play with the Stanton due to the record actually bumping into the bottom of the cartridge. The Shure’s handle these records great with an extra 2mm or so more clearance.
If you don’t know Shure’s reputation, you probably are not from this planet… This is the best scratch cartridge ever made !! Perfect sound quality, insane for scratches, loud bass response, long last standing and so on. Do not waste your time and money… GET IT RIGHT NOW !!
These are the purfect needles for the world’s most perfect turntable, the Technique 1200’s but they are not limited to use only on 1200’s. These needles can be installed in less than a minute and the needle can handle whatever you throw at it, so you can cut your records down to the bone! The bass sound really comes through well on these babies and they track your records really well which comes in handy for records which seem worn down.
It is all I wanted. I replace the cartridges regularly on a five year of so basis. As time has gone on, my usage of the Sony TT has diminished considerably; consequently replacement of the cartridge (stylus) extends further into the future. Hand made this is not. Does it even stack up to Audio Technica???…not quite…but….if all you do is listen to the occasional record before they all succumb to vinyl rot, you would be hard pressed to put this unit down; unless of course you are made of money and like handmade everything!!
Buy it and enjoy. It worked right out of the box. No extended warranty is needed; and when you are ready to get rid of it you may not find anymore such things available. Enjoy.

I bought this cartridge because I needed to record some of my old vinyl, childhood Christmas Albums to the computer. I originally had the Audio Technica carts for my Technics Turntable. After a few of these I thought I’d try the Shure product. I also like the fact that the Shure rides higher above the record (and record lip too) and doesn’t rub on the surface like the Audio Technica carts can. All in all a very solid and good sounding cartridge!! The price was just right too!
It was a snap to plug in and fasten to the tone arm of my garage sale Pioneer turntable. It tracks well and the sound quality is better than I remember for vinyl. Of course, it has been nearly a decade since I played any vinyl and I have never had any high end gear.
I bought this cartridge to try since it was extremely inexpensive and made by one of the great names in hifi. There was a time when Shure was the great American cartridge company and virtually everyone with a component turntable owned at least one Shure product. I paid only US$ 18.95 plus shipping for this little red and black beast. Mine said it was Made in Mexico on the box. Packaging is modest and not as luxurious as what Shure provides for its more expensive M97eX. I also own a Shure M97eX (also from Amazon)and a Shure stylus force gauge (a must have for all owners of non P-Mount tables).
The Shure M92E is for P-Mount tonearms i.e. for plug in style cartridges that are held in place with a single screw. This makes alignment easy with no need to adjust the tonearm. There is also an adapter to use the cartridge on standard tonearms as well. I used my M92E on a Technics BD20d turntable. This is a low cost Technics table that I bought new about ten years ago and the basic design dates back to the mid 1980s. I have the modest Technics cartridge that it came with and a better Ortofon OM3P cartridge which cost around $50.
The Shure is surprisingly good sounding. It has a nice, warm balance without shrill highs and bass is actually quite good. It is much better than the rather edgy sounding Technics cartridge that came with the turntable. The Shure is not quite as smooth, detailed or two dimensional as the Ortofon but is flatter, more even and open sounding.
I am guessing a lot of people looking at this Shure cartridge are going to use it on a turntable similar to mine so I suggest adding a low cost thin felt platter mat from Pro-ject on top on the rubber one that comes with the turntable. I find it damps out unwanted vibration better and allows this cartridge to do its thing. You do not need it, but on my set up, it really let this little Shure sing. I played all kinds of music on it and while it seemed happiest with rock and jazz, even classical was very pleasant sounding. What you get is natural sound with no nasties. What you do not get is a very detailed, articulate sound or a lot of air around the instruments or great imaging. The Shure’s faults are errors of omission rather than any significant vices. Frankly I have owned some cartridges in the $300-400 that were not as even and pleasant overall as this little Shure.I strongly recommend the Shure M92E for LP lovers on a budget.
This cartridge rides way too low on the deck and the cartridge will scrape against the vinyl, which can easily damage the vinyl.
Got the product quickly, and didn’t even need the whole cartridge, just sled the needle off the new cartridge and on to the one on the turntable. Works great.
This cartridge came in a Numark TTUSB Turntable I recently bought when the prices came down on this item. As many of my 45 RPM Records I bought back in the 50’s and 60’s do exhibit a lot of playing wear ( especially on the Big Hit favorites ) I was not expecting too much from this cartridge.
Unfortunately any kind of published specifications on this cartridge are not easily found. My first reaction was to remove this cartridge from the TTUSB and replace it with one of my Shure M44-C Cartridges that I have used for many years. For the older and somewhat worn records I like to track at 4 to 5 grams as that is what they were always played on with a conical .7 mil Diamond stylus. The .5 to 2 gram limitations on many of todays cartridges just dont track well in a worn record groove and a higher rate of distortion in the playback is evident.
When I saw this cartridge and it’s low price, I ordered one primarily to have it for the replacement stylus and also in hope that it would include some kind of electrical and mechanical specifications on the package, which it did.
For those of you who are also wondering what the specs are before you buy it, here is what was written on the back of the blister pak it comes in ( Mounting Hardware is also included ).
Standard half inch mounting
0.6 Mil spherical Diamond Tip
Tracking Force 2.5 to 3.5 Grams
Channel Separation 26Db @ 1 Khz
Output 2.4 Mv
a Pin Out diagram is also shown and it states ” Designed in the USA, Made In Japan
While setting up the TTUSB Numark Turntable, I maxed out the stylus pressure ( as measured on a calibrated Neuses Guage ) to 3.5 Grams. I tried some well worn 45’s that just didn’t make it on a 1.5 gram pressure stylus on one of my Ortofon Cartridges. These records did sound OK on a Shure M44-C and a Pickering V15ATE both tracking at just a little over 4 Grams. The sound from the Numark Groove Tool Budget Cartridge was compatible with the Shure M44-C and the Pickering V15ATE for playing older records ” with Wear ” . I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
I also tried playing some of my high quality ” Command Records ” ( Remember those ? ) and I am still quite impressed.
I have now ordered a bunch of replacement stylii for this cartridge as I think I will just leave it in the Numark TTUSB.
Yes, the stylus ” grip ” does get somewhat close to the playing surface of the record as an earlier reviewer pointed out. If you are not playing severely warped records this should not be a problem, and remember I am tracking at the Maximum specified tracking weight. I am not using this in a ” DJ ” situation so back queing does not concern me.
I have not yet been able to find any published spec for the frequency response of this cartridge although it does put a smile on my face when playing many of my original 50 and 60 year old 45’s as I transfer them to digital format.
I have had many Record Changers ( remember those ? ), Turntables, cartridges and stylii over the years made by well known manufacturers . Although I would never call myself an ” Audio Purest ” by any means, I know what I like to hear and I do hear that from this cartridge.
For the price of the cartridge and for replacement stylii I would consider at this price point a very worthwhile item if it will suit your requirements. I am quite surprised and very well pleased with its performance.
