What was that song off “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys”?
Nope, not the movie soundtrack (although it was pretty good!). This was an old compilation I had on cassette back fifteen years ago (it may be older) and I’m pretty sure that was the name. The song I’m looking for has the chorus that goes:There must be someplace for old worn out cowboys(Something, something) and dreamers like meWhere the cue sticks Juke Boxes Good are straight, and the beer’s always coldAnd the juke box is playin’ Hank Williams for free.There were also songs by Johnny Cash, (Ghost Riders) Marty Robbins, (All Around Cowboy) title track by Willie, something by Dolly Parton, and several other great, mostly older songs(“Cowboys Don’t Shoot Straight”, “You’re Going to be the Cowboy for a While”, a non-WWI “Momma’s don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys”).
