When I first got these plugs and started using them, I thought what a joke! I was using 14 Gauge stranded wire and no matter what the plug would not securely hold the wire. But there is a trick and I suspect this would work with other pugs of this type. Strip the wire about 1/2″ and then the stripped part back on itself. Stuff that into the plug, tighten the screw, and you cannot pull the wire out! Simple.
AS others have said, these are solid plugs, you just gotta use this trick. Takes but a few minutes to add a pair of plugs to a cable.
Reason for 4 stars is this should have been part of the instructions on how to use the plugs. Cost me some time and plenty of aggravation.
BTW: Got this trick from another review. Many thanks.
